I want to give the moon to my dearest SiewPeng.
Yes, I have done it, and I challenge those who are using DSLR to take similar photo as mine, I am not using DSLR but a semipro compact camera with high zoom power. I guess you will only be able to get closer than me to the moon if you have a 300mm lenses or a teleconvertor or higher resolution (megapixels) camera.
You can get higher detail if you spend a lot more than me to get a long telescopic lenses. My camera can only reach that quality, smaller detail cannot be seen, but since this is the first time I take such a clear picture of moon and know that where the rabbit on the moon is, I am very happy with my camera’s performance.
If you have read the comments of this post here, you know what camera I am using. I still haven’t ready to post about my new camera, because a lot of testing need to be done in order to write a review. But what I am very satisfied with the camera because of its speed, ease of control, and allow me to crop.
Shooting Detail: f/8, 1/160 sec, ISO 80, focal lense 100mm (equavalence to 560mm for 35mm camera), 10 Megapixel Superfine mode.
Post Shooting Editing: Cropped to moon sized, Adjusted RGB Curved.
Tips: Don’t let the moon over-expose, you won’t get any detail of the moon.
Next, I will pluck the stars from sky and give to SiewPeng. I LOVE YOU, SIEWPENG.

ai-ling & hiimeimei, thanks for your comments, Colin & SiewPeng can fly to the moon and live happily ever after. :p
Wish you and everyone got your happiness as well.
HoewSiong, thanks for sharing your photo. You have taken a great moon photo too. If You don’t mind, please tell me the shooting details or the meta data because I can’t find it on your file.
Let me do some analyses:
1. Your photo is clearer at the edge of the moon which means has more 3D effect. Let’s us try on half moon, the 3D effect will be greater.
2. Your moon is rotated 180 degree from mine, I guess you took it on second half of the night (after 12am, West), if you did not rotate it. Am I right?
If you send me the details, I can analyse more, let’s improve our photography skill. Hope to meet you again, and we can go photo shooting together.
Try find “More properties”. The EXIF data is inside.
Yeah, hope one day we will meet again
Yes, got it. Your camera is my camera’s brother with one extra ‘0′.
Try lower the ISO.
Hmm… It seemed that the moon at your area and my area has different brightness. Sometimes it depends on our luck to get detail on the volcano and river on the moon because of different contrast at different times.
I have read an article about astronomy photography, it said that the best time to show the detail of moon is half moon. Let’s try.
Hope to see more photos from you.
one word….
WOW !!!! 0_0
that’s a beautiful moon photo!
it looks there is a rabbit on the moon~~
Wilson, thanks.
Cindy, yes, the rabbit is always facing us and never go to the other site, because the Moon is in synchronous rotation.
