Today is the last day of the month again.  Many people are busy preparing different types of reports.  Let me give you the monthly cloud report start from this month where I selected some ‘good-looking’ cloud pictures taken within the month.

Unlike some other places on the Earth, clouds can always be seen almost every day at any corner on the sky most of the time in Malaysia.  Although sometimes the sky is cloudless, completely cleared and show the smooth blue sky, but it usually only lasts for a few hours or even shorter.

The good thing is that I can always take the photos of cloud in different shapes, but the bad thing is that it is not good for observing stars, planets and moon at night.

The cloud can look like anything.  We can easily relate it to any objects, where most of the time resembles animals, objects or human.

The rain was coming.

I strongly believe that the cloud is always communicating with us through its shape, but we might not be able to understand what it says.

We went to a mysterious place and found that there is a small pond of lotus.  Its leaves are all double the size of our heads.

Compare to the lotus planted in our garden, they really have a huge size.  Our lotus leaves in the garden are only as big as our head or palm.

Did you notice that I put a double quote on the word huge on the title?  It is huge to me, but it might not huge to you.  I believe there might be larger lotus leaves which I have not seen yet.

Since I have been writing about Waterfront Kuching recently, I dug out more photos of Waterfront Kuching which was taken months ago.

I took this sunset photo in an evening in May (2010) while we were waiting for the parade of Wesak Day to start.  My Mother, SiewPeng, and my sister witnessed this sunset, and I took it using my sister’s camera.

It is not necessary to travel far away to take sunset photos, because we live not very far from Waterfront Kuching.  But how frequent do we have the ‘free time’ to come and shoot sunset photos?

What make a good sunset photo?
1.  Unblock horizon on the west,
2.  Clear sky with cloud in beautiful shapes
3.  Foreground objects such as mountain, water, building structures, birds etc.

Finally, with the help of computer software, the photos of sunset are enhanced .

I hope that I can watch sunrise and sunset every day with SiewPeng.

The sun was above our heads, it was a good time to take photo of our shadow in the river.

It only happened on the right time, right place, and with right people.  There is a proverb in Chinese says that, “TianShi, DiLi, RenHe” which has the same meaning.

Waterfront Kuching is quite long (more than 1km), if we did not stop there, we would have missed these photos.  And I also understand that there would be endless of angles there where I can take more photos.

You may find nothing special on these photos, but there is a something special on the lamppost.

It is again the first time, we see windmill in Kuching although they are the mini version.

The lampposts are powered by mini windmills and solar power.  Thumbs up to the authority for putting effort in using green power which is good for our environment.

I will show you the photo of the windmills in Waterfront Kuching in the future.

Earlier this month, we went to Waterfront Kuching in a sunny Sunday morning, we found that the water level was extremely low, and the riverbed came out of the river.

That was the first time we saw the riverbed in waterfront.  There are 2 low tides every day, but it might depend on how low the water level to reveal the riverbed.

This phenomenon can only be seen at the new extended area of the waterfront (Gambier Street) which was just launched months ago.

It reminds me about the Point Walter in Perth, Australia which has a long sand spit that can be walked-on into the middle of the river during low tide.  We have never been there and we will visit this place on our next visit to Perth.

I don’t think anyone would like to walk on the riverbed at Waterfront Kuching during low tide.  The brown river water shows that the soil is muddy, and it is also full of rubbish thrown by human.  When we walked by, there was also some kind of strange smell which was indescribable.

How nice if there is a riverbed that rises up every day during low tide, and visitors can walk on it or even get across the river.

To everyone in Kuching, please love our river, and do not throw rubbish into the river.
