After some breathtaking views up the famous KL Tower, we made good use of the tickets we had paid for.  We took the adventure package and so our next stop was the Animal Zone.  We used our tickets like passes, we showed them to the staff there and they scanned them and we stepped into the animal world welcomed by… *GULP* SNAKES!

There are so many kinds of them being exhibited at the entrance of the Animal Zone.  Despite the common fear towards this creature, we braced ourselves to move forward and looked at their beauty with a different perspective.

As there are so many of them, I can’t remember each of their names.  And some have quite long names too.  They exhibit some albino snakes too, such as the one above and the one in the first picture.

Most of them laid quite still with very little movement.  Some did not even move at all.  But silently, they set their eyes on their preys and when the moment is right, they will launch an attack faster than you can say ‘Hey, there’s a snake behind you!’

However, it is quite safe there even though there are a lot of snakes around because they are all ‘watching’ their preys from inside their allocated spaces.  The one above seems like peeping more than watching.  Haha…

Well, at least this one was proud to show himself the other day.  From the picture, it is a kind of Banana King Snake.  What an interesting name for a snake, I thought.

This snake is quite different from the others because of its colour.  I think it is a good camouflage method among leaves and tall grass.  Well, it is good for him but not quite pleasant for its preys though… *GULP* WATCH OUT!!!

This is another short film produced by the National Film of Malaysia.  It is called, ‘Hikayat Sang Kancil Dan Buaya’, which means, The Tale of Sang Kancil (the clever mousedeer) And The Crocodiles.

And the tale goes…

On a sunny and peaceful day, a crocodile bathed in the river and ran after the butterfly.  Sang Kancil, the clever mousedeer, stopped by the river and noticed the tasty fruits that were on the trees on the other side of the river.  As she was trying to cross the river, a fish appeared to warn her about the presence of crocodiles and told her to beware.  Sang Kancil thanked the fish for his kind advice and she began to think of a way to cross the river safely.  And finally, she had an idea.

She approached the crocodile.  The crocodile was curious if she was afraid of him because he said crocodiles like to eat mousedeers.  She told him she was instructed by the Rich Man to count the number of crocodiles in the river because he is going to have a big feast (makan).  When the crocodiles heard the word ‘makan’, they all gathered as fast as lightning to let Sang Kancil count them.  However, Sang Kancil said that they have to line up in the river in order for her to make sure that no crocodiles were left behind.

The crocodiles did as told.  After Sang Kancil crossed the river, she told them the truth and the crocodiles went after the first crocodile that she had approached.  The crocodile got away but he said that Sang Kancil was going to get it from him some day.  As for Sang Kancil, luck was not always on her side though.  She was across the river now but all the fruits were eaten by the monkeys.

This short film sends out a few messages.

At the beginning, as the crocodile was enjoying the sun, he accidentally sat on a durian and hurt himself.  Then, he gave a reminder that we must throw rubbish in the bin and not anywhere we like.

And Sang Kancil reminds us about using wisdom to solve problems but she also portraits the consequences if we did not plan each step properly.

Today, we are going to show you pictures on how the cat cleans herself.  We noticed that she used quite a few methods to clean herself.  She licks, scratches and bites.  She can do it for half an hour or even up to an hour!

I think she was trying to clean her paws in the picture above.  She has just stepped on the fresh soil that we have dug to start some new plantations.

“Urghhh…I…c…ca…can’t reach my back….”

Some of her gestures and actions are so funny.  One of them is like the one above.  It could happen for as short as one second but we managed to catch it.

This is when she was cleaning her tail.

And her leg.

“I’m not done yet.”

“And now this side….”

“A bit more on the tail here and I’m done!”

“I’m…do…ne…hey…what are you doing?”

Shhh… … She is sleeping.
Look how soundly she sleeps.

“Hmm…I think I hear something….”

Although she seemed to be sound asleep, I think she could roughly sense what was going on around her.

Sometimes, when we are tired and just want to take a break, we will put our hands on the table and then lay our heads on it to take a short nap.  She did it with three legs the other day.

“Ohh…where’s my prince?”

This is the sleeping beauty look.
Don’t worry.  She did not have an apple down her throat.

“Is it meal time yet?”

She opened her eyes lazily.  It’s very enjoyable to look at her.

“Well…guess not.  *yawn* I’ll get some more sleep then.  Call me when the food is ready.”

Her paws are still quite clean despite being to different places.  I wonder how cats keep their paws so clean.  Do you know the answer?
